Hermosa Water

Hermosa’s municipal water system is a locally operated utility that provides drinking water service to residents within town limits. The system relies on groundwater sources and existing distribution infrastructure, and is managed in coordination with state regulatory requirements to ensure safe and reliable service. Ongoing operations include routine maintenance, monitoring, and response to system issues, as well as coordination with contractors and certified operators to maintain compliance with South Dakota DANR and EPA standards.

In recent years, the Town has been actively planning and implementing improvements to the drinking water system to address aging infrastructure, system capacity, and long-term reliability. These efforts include pursuing funding through state and federal loan programs, evaluating necessary upgrades, and planning for future demand. As discussed in public meetings, these projects are intended to ensure continued water quality, regulatory compliance, and sustainable service for the community as it grows. The Town remains committed to transparency and encourages residents to review meeting packets and attend meetings to stay informed on system updates and decisions.
